Sasha Arnoux

My experience:
I have been involved with advocating for people with disability since 2005, initially in mid-West WA before moving to South Australia in 2012. My background has been in nursing and more recently, working with adults with disability in a variety of settings, including day option programmes, supported independent living and people with complex communication needs. I completed my Bachelor of Disability and Developmental Education in 2021 through Flinders University.

Areas of expertise/interest
I have a particular interest in working with people with intellectual disability, complex communication needs (CCN) and using alternative and augmentative communication (AAC). I am passionate in developing customised employment and micro enterprise opportunities for people with disability and safeguarding for people’s futures.

The most rewarding part of my role is…
Supporting people to have access to opportunities to reach their potential and enjoy learning new skills to build their autonomy is rewarding. It is exciting to see positive outcomes not just for the person but for their teams too. This role has a strong human rights aspect which is important for me.
