Joe Bingham

My experience:
I have been working at Access4u for nearly six months now, initially as a Mentor and now as a Behaviour Support Practitioner. My work as a mentor has allowed me to work with a variety of different clients and their families, and support their mental health and wellbeing needs. Before my work as a Behaviour Support Practitioner, I completed my honours degree in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience in 2021, and briefly taught Psychology to Social work students at the University of South Australia in 2022

What inspires me to do what I do:
I am fascinated by the intricacies of the human brain and the complexities of human behaviour. I love to understand what makes people behave the way they do, and so naturally I love my role as a behaviour support practitioner.

Areas of expertise/interest:
• Autism Spectrum Disorder and intellectual disabilities
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Brain injury and recovery.

The most rewarding part of my role is
I love Identifying behaviours of concern and trying to understand the function behind them. From here, helping the client using psychological concepts or principles to slowly eliminate or modify these behaviours, to create more desirable outcomes.

A fun fact about me:
I was born in Manchester and so naturally I love everything soccer.
