Why You Should Consider a Career in the Disability Sector

Why You Should Consider a Career in the Disability Sector

A career in disability is an incredibly rewarding path.

Do you want to make a real difference in people’s lives? Want to help others grow their independence and be part of the community? A role in the disability sector may be the perfect fit for you.

Keep reading to learn more about a career in the disability field and why it may be an avenue to consider…

1. You’ll Make a Difference

Those that work in disability are innately caring people. Here at Access4u, our employees are passionate about making a difference in the lives of the people we support. We employ people who share our vision of providing access to quality supports that enable vulnerable people to achieve our goals.

It’s important that if you work in disability, you share our values and passion for making a positive impact on individuals and the community. You want to motivate others, or you simply want to make more of a valuable contribution. Does this sound like you? Consider a career in disability!

2. It’s a Growing Industry

Due to the expansion of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), there’s a lot of demand for staff in the sector. The Department of Jobs and Small Business suggests that to meet this demand the workforce will need to double over the next five years. This means that a career in disability services is a great avenue if you’re after job security. This is an industry that offers reliability and room for growth.

And with a growing need of disability service workers, there are several career paths available. Like any industry, there is a need for support workers and field officers, but also a need for team leaders and coordination roles, too. The opportunities are endless. 3. You Want Flexibility & Variety

Working in the disability sector generally means you won’t have an average 9-5 role. We all live busy lives, and support work in particular is the perfect job to fit around a hectic schedule! At Access4u, we’ll work with you to provide you with shift options and schedules that suit you and our customers.

In addition to this, disability work provides a lot of variety.  No two days are the same. This makes the roles challenging (but rewarding!), and will allow you to learn and grow.
