Day Options programs are available to NDIS participants under CORE supports or Capacity Building supports in their NDIS plan.
Access4u offers a Day Options program called Options4u, which is for NDIS participants aged 18 and over. We provide a range of sessions, from Art in Action, to Cooking Creations, to Day Excursions.
Day Options programs offer a variety of benefits to those who attend. We'll be going through some of the benefits below...
Increased Independence
Day Options can help build important skills for day-to-day life, including communication and social skills, which are important for independence. Some sessions also specifically focus on building independence, such as Cooking Creations--where you'll shop for the ingredients required to make delicious meals.
Building Friendships
Attending Day Options sessions are a great way to meet new and likeminded people in a safe and supportive environment. Day Options sessions are attended by people from different backgrounds, with different abilities and interests. You'll meet people from all walks of life! You will have the opportunity to bond over fun tasks and shared interests. Day Options offers multiple opportunities for connection and belonging.
Routine and Structure
Having a routine and structure in life is important. Routine and structure provide a sense of control, reduce stress and anxiety, and can improve your overall wellbeing. While our specific activities can change week to week, our program stays the same from Monday to Friday. We offer regular activities and outings with our sessions such as Day Excursion and Community Explorers.
Community Participation
We offer several sessions that involve getting out and about in the local community. Our Outdoor Excursion is more focused on being outdoors and within nature, and our Community Explorers sessions provide you with the opportunity to explore local landmarks and community events, where you can interact with others, go to cafes, explore local icons like the state museum or the botanic gardens, and more.
Learning Skills
Learning new skills is a big focus of our Day Options program. There is always an opportunity to learn new skills in any of our Day Options sessions. Learn to unlock your creativity and create, with our Art in Action classes--from jewellery making, to painting, to other craft activities. Learn important skills in our Life Skills sessions, such as financial literacy and budgeting, personal hygiene, and maintaining healthy relationships. Learn to cook! Become a green thumb! Navigate computers! The opportunities are endless with a Day Options program.
