Meet our Customers, Cooper and Sam

Meet our customers, Cooper and Sam - you can read more about their stories in our latest Impact Report.

Meet Cooper

Cooper has been supported by Access4u since July 2021, and has grown in leaps and bounds since then.

One of his Mentors, Maddie, has been with Cooper for just over a year. Cooper's Mentoring team assist him with accessing the community, school pick up, comunication aid, emotion regulation, daily activities, and achieving his NDIS goals.

Cooper loves going for drives and doing outdoor activities, such as playing at a park, chasing birds, going on walks with mum, going for a swim at dad's house, and joining in with others and shooting hoops at the park.

Cooper is reaching major personal goals and has had a vast improvement with his communication skills. We have seen his communication grow through his ability to speak via signs and his iPad. The use of his iPad has also encouraged him to better regulate his emotions. This improved communication and regulation has led to him initiating toileting, a major milestone.

His group of Access4u Mentors work together to direct Cooper towards his communication aids. Cooper has a tight team supporting him, who work effectively with therapists and family to achieve his goals. This facilitates trust and ensures that his wants and needs are effectively communicated.

Cooper has also recently joined our Access4u Day Options program (Options4u) amd attemded during the Christmas holidays, even joining a day trip to Kadina.

In the future, we aim to continue Cooper's growth across his communication skills and other daily activities, as they will promote his independence as he ventures into adulthood. Cooper's Mentor, Maddie, says she has especially enjoyed her time working with him. She has enjoyed building a strong relationship with him and has loved watching him strengthen his ability to communicate.

Meet Samantha

Our customer, Sam, is much admired by the Access4u team. Her Mentoring team speaks highly of her and enjoys supporting her.

Sam loves being active and walking distnances. Her Mentors have to keep up with her, which at times can be quite a challenge! Sam has a great sense of adventure, and enjoys experiencing new things, trying new foods, and playing with her toy beads.

Sam's Mentors work collaboratively with her family to support her and teach her new life skills. Over time, we have seen great progress in Sam. One of her current goals is to swim and enjoy the water. To assist with this, Sam's team regularly visit local swimming pools and the beach. Sam approaches new experiences with a big smile.

The Access4u team supports Sam on Thursdays and during Respite one weekend a month.

We look forward to seeing Sam achieve more goals, one step at a time!
