Customer Story: Celebrating One Year and Beyond at Greenfield

Access4u customers Sarah, Rachael and Gemma moved into their Access4u housing in 2023, after several months of planning and assessments. All three customers met several times through meet and greet sessions, day trips and short-term accommodations stays, to get to know one another and explore whether living together would be suitable. Their families were also heavy involved throughout the process.

Fast forward to 2024, we celebrated these three women living in their property for one year, with friends and family coming round to enjoy a celebratory BBQ!

Since moving into their Greenfield home, Sarah, Rachael and Gemma have grown in leaps and bounds as a collective. They all participate in cooking, doing their own washing, and cleaning around the house. They continue to enjoy each other's company and participate in many shared dinners. Family and staff regularly come together to celebrate with them on occassions such as birthdays, public holidays, and more.

All three participants go out in the community together. They love attending local pageants, going out to eat together, and visiting local markets, with support of Access4u Mentors.

Individually, they have seperate interests and skill focuses. Sarah recently started her first job role, working in an office environment. She regularly attends Day Options to learn new skills and enjoys swimming at local pools and attending cricket lessons. She has also improved her ability to be consistent with household chores, keeping her space clean and tidying regularly.

We have also seen substantial improvement with Gemma, who has become more accepting of change over time. Gemma enjoys cooking and has worked on improving her skills around self-care and creating structure around her days. Gemma loves playing her Wii, sports and dancing - she also loves footy and is a huge Geelong Fan.

Rachael loves art and colouring-in books. She regularly engages in the community, likes going to cafes, being around her housemates and loves listening to opera music. She often engages in a program called "54 Friends", where she socialises with others over a cup of coffee and a slice of cake.

All three women have a huge community around them, made up of family and friends, as well as Coordinators, Mentors, therapeutic supports and other professionals. These individuals all work together to assist the three women in living their best lives. We look forward to seeing their progress in 2025 and beyond.
