A bit about me:
I completed my Bachelor of Behavioural Science in 2020. For the past 3 years I have been working as a Youth Worker with children under the care of the Department for Child Protection. This involved working with children who have complex behaviours, often stemming from a history of trauma and abuse. I worked closely with children on their emotional regulation, social skills, and daily living tasks. Through this work I discovered my passion for working with individuals to address their behaviours and positively influence their quality of life, which led to joining Access4u as a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner in early 2023

Areas of Expertise/Interest:

  • Children
  • Trauma
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • ADHD

What inspires me to do what I do:
Looking back now I can see that I was always destined to work with individuals who need help in overcoming their behavioural challenges – I mean, what young child enjoys spending all weekend watching Supernanny and The House of Tiny Tearaways?! In high school I discovered my interest in Psychology, which ultimately led to my choice of degree and career pathway. After a few years of working with children with complex histories and behaviours I knew that Positive Behaviour Support was the next logical step in my journey to helping individuals and the community.

The most rewarding part of my role is...
I feel a great sense of pride when I step back and see the real life differences I have made that have led to positive changes in my clients’ life. Helping clients to set goals, then work towards learning new skills and achieving those goals is immensely rewarding.

A fun fact about me:
I am a bit of a puzzle whiz! You can usually find me spending my weekends cranking out a good Disney puzzle.
