My name is Elena (Elle). I have worked in the disability sector for 2years now, staring off as a domestic assistant, then becoming a Mentor at A4U and working my way up to Support Coordinator. I have almost finished gaining my diploma in community health and wellbeing.
What inspires me to do what I do:
Having children with disabilities has greatly influenced my decision to work in the sector. Having live in experience has allowed me to connect with my clients and their families on a level that most others would otherwise not get the chance to. It has allowed me to adapt a person-centred approach to my clients, which is the most important part of my role.
The most rewarding part of my role is…
Supporting my clients and their families to navigate the ever changing and confusing world of the NDIS and seeing each person gain the confidence to advocate for themselves is the most rewarding part of my job.
A fun fact about me:
In my spare time (what is that again?) I am out getting messy and being a big kid with my little guys.
